Our History

Since 1975, The Rowboat Company has delivered quality marine general contracting services for residential, marine, commercial, and industrial markets of the SouthEast.  Our success story continues with the company transitioning to new family ownership in 2022.

J. Scott Heslink

After a 27-year career in corporate construction that spanned industries and geographies, Scott was determined to bring professional industry tactics and service to Marine General Contracting and purchased The Rowboat Company in 2022. He held executive roles at Hewlett Packard, Bank of America & Capital One, where he delivered over $5 billion dollars in projects across the USA, Europe, and Asia, including the award-winning Capital One Café concept.

Scott holds degrees in Engineering from Northeastern University and an MBA from the College of William and Mary.  He is a certified Project Manager, Master Black Belt (Lean/Six Sigma), and holds two patents in methods for improving customer service.

The Heslink family lives in Mooresville and are active supporters of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
